Noyce Networking Event at NCTM
-
WRNN is hosting a networking event at the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Spring Conference in New Orleans March 16-18, 2026. Interested Noyce Scholars, Fellows, and Master Teacher Teaching Fellows from WRNN states are invited to sign up. Travel awards of $2,000 will be issued to participants.
The purpose of this event is to:
- Connect with professional colleagues both in and outside the Noyce program for collaboration, professional development, and other forms of support
- Gain valuable insights into classroom implementation of research-based science teaching and learning
- Maximize your experience at the conference by leveraging the experiences of peers and the resources and ideas they collect at the conference
- Encourage continued engagement in professional educator communities and societies
Eligibility
- Open to NSF Noyce Scholars from programs in the 14-state WRNN (see map)
- Preference to current Noyce Scholars or less than 3 years since you received a Noyce award
- If you are a former Noyce recipient, you must be currently teaching in a high-need school district
Expectations
- Register on the WRNN website
- If you receive notice that you have been selected for a travel award, participate in all WRNN events associated with the conference (pre- and in-/post-conference networking events): Details TBA. We expect to schedule a pre-event zoom meeting, an in-person meeting at the conference, and a post-conference sharing.
- Attend the conference and sessions: The conference opening reception is scheduled for 5:30pm on Monday, March 16, and sessions conclude at 5pm on Wednesday, March 18.
- Respond to post-event surveys and resource sharing requests
- Arrange your own travel plans including (1) transportation to/from conference and (2) lodging
- Register yourself for the conference (use the button at the bottom of the page to link to NCTM's conference webpage where you can at once become an NCTM member and register for the conference: membership+registration is less than nonmember registration for new members; $49 student membership includes free conference registration)
- If your plans change, let us know right away. We expect a waiting list and another Noyce recipient would love to have your spot. You will be responsible for returning the travel award funds in a timely manner
Recommendations
- If you receive notice that you have been selected for a travel award, register early for the conference in order to get the Early Bird discounted rate: rates go up by after January 21 for in-service teachers
- Become a member of NCTM: the cost of membership+registration is less than nonmember registration for new members plus there are benefits to membership (online resources, webinars, networks, book discounts, journals, etc.)
- Reserve lodging when you register (far in advance) through the NCTM website to get guaranteed conference-negotiated best rates at the conference hotel, the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel: https://www.nctm.org/neworleans2026/plan/#Hotel
