Friday Field Trip

Field Trip Options

We have two options this year to select from. Please review the descriptions of each below, and then sign-up for your choice.

Option 1: Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI)

Just across the river from the hotel, just under a mile away, the OMSI museum sits on the Willamette River and boasts five enormous halls with hundreds of interactive exhibits and displays. Their special exhibit in February is "Staying Alive: Defenses of the Animal Kingdom!" This exhibit lets you get up close and personal with 16 live animals and learn about the tactics and adaptations they use to survive.
They also have exhibits and labs dedicated to Turbines, Natural Sciences, Physics, Chemistry, Paleontology, and much more!
This is an "on your own" option - pick up your tickets from the conference check-in location anytime between 12:00pm-1:00pm. Getting to the museum is on your own - you can walk or rideshare with friends (WRNN will not be reimbursing this expense).

Option 2: Oregon Reality Lab

The field trip is for Noyce Scholars and Fellows only on Friday, February 16 from approximately 1:00-4:30pm. We will be visiting the University of Oregon's Concordia campus to tour their Reality Lab. Scholars will learn what immersive media is and how it can be used effectively in learning. Attendees will get to experience AR and VR learning content in the lab.
